Frequently Asked Questions

Fibre (also known as Fibre to the home or FTTH) links your home to the Internet via Fibre optic cables that use light impulses to carry data. These impulses move along thin glass Fibre tubes at the speed of light, which makes Fibre very fast and stable resulting in a more reliable, buffer free, experience to you.

The FNO (Fibre Network Operator) is a wholesaler that make the internet available by laying fibre cables under or above the ground to your home. They work with the infrastructure rather than working directly with the customers. From time to time, the FNO may deal direct with the customers, such as Openserve.

Other FNOs that we work with are:

Frogfoot / Vuma / Vodacom / MetroFibre / Octotel / Evotel / TTConnect / Mitsol / Thinkspeed / Link Layer / Teralink / ClearAccess / Zoom / Lightstruck / Netstream

More FNOs may have come available and not listed here.

First step is to complete the form on this page with the details we require to accuratley quote you based on the FNO's available at your door. Once this is done, we will submit to you the pricing options and application form for an order. Once a completed application is received, we then place this order with the FNO available.

Depending on the FNO available, installation and activation dates may vary from anywhere between 5 days and 3 weeks. Mostly we find that the FNOs push installation quicker unless there is a delay in infrustructure connectivity.

The FNO will then have subcontractors reach out directly to you via the contact information in the application form provided, in order to arrange an installation date.

Once this date is confirmed, we arrange to meet onsite towards the end of the install to plugin / activate the preconfigured router and test.

Depending on the FNO available, installation and activation dates may vary from anywhere between 5 days and 3 weeks. We usually find it occurs within the first week of application.

20 Mbps – 50 Mbps: This is a good option if you’d like to stream TV, YouTube,  listen to music,  general downloading or just want superfast browsing in general. This is ideal for an online-active family.

50 Mbps – 100 Mbps: If seamless high speeds are essential to your family or business, then this is the one. Let everyone on your network experience fast speeds at the same time. Stream HD content on multiple devices simultaneously. Recommended for DSTV Streaming

100 Mbps - 1Gbps: This is purely for bragging rights. But for future proof, 8K streaming and the cost difference in these higher tiers, it might just be a install and forget option for you.

We don’t do contracts holding you down on any of our FTTH services. All our recurring services are month-to-month based so if you want to cancel, you just need to give us one calendar month’s notice. Please put this in email before the 25th of the month.

No problem! As long as you have informed us giving us a calendar month's notice, along with your new physical address, we can arrange a seemless move with uninterupted service

We worry about the process in the background between FNOs to ensure you dont end up with multiple payments. All the information and pricing will be provided to you in reply to your request to move.

Please note that we are still required to cancel the line with your current Fibre Network Operator (FNO) which means a clawback fee might be applicable if you’re moving within your first 6 months of going active. You might also be liable for installation, connection and/or activation fees should you move to a package on an FNO where we do not cover those fees.

Easy, simply indicate that you are with an existing ISP in the above form and we will co-ordinate a move to minimise downtime. We will need a reference from your existing ISP which was given to them at the time of the install, usually a VT order number for VUMA and a B number for Openserve.

We will also need proof of cancellation with your current ISP as well a s a confirmed date when your service will be released.

All our data packages are month-to-month, so you only need to give one calendar month’s notice in order to cancel your service, respectfully to be done before the 25th of the month.

Free  Routers are exactly that - free to use and is provided on certain packages only. The routers carry a 6 month warranty and any need for replacement will be for your cost. Cancellations of any service within the first 6 months of service, will incur an invoice for the router to keep.

Should you cancel your service (or fall into a suspended state for longer than 30 days) you may be liable for either a clawback (installation/connection fee that we covered upon signing up) or a cancellation fee, depending on the service you signed up for.

Clawback fees: If you are on a service where we covered the installation/activation fees, you will be liable for clawback fees if you cancel within 6 months of activation.
